GIANT MEDICINE BALL
The Giant Medicine Balls are large medicine balls covered in faux leather, very sturdy but not hard, with a moderate rebound, specially made for functional training. Also called Wall Balls, they are available in a wide range of weights, from 2 to 20 kg, and their diameter does not vary with weight.
The use of Giant Medicine Balls allows the increase of speed and power in load transfers requiring continuous coordination and stabilization. They are widely used in group training, personal training, work in pairs and in athletic preparation. They are not recommended for slam, violent throws on the ground because you run the risk of damaging them. The material used for their construction is eco-leather for the external covering, sandbags and cotton patches for the internal padding.

Training with Giant Medicine Balls
The Giant Medicine Balls have carved out a prominent place in the world of training thanks to their characteristics and wide application possibilities. Their diffusion has occurred in particular in the field of functional training which, first of all, implies the realization of daily gestures in a sporting key and at the same time takes care of the posture and the execution of the same.
Thanks to the "important" dimensions, this type of tool is very useful within athletic preparation protocols, in core-training work and strength training. Furthermore, unlike the classic medicine balls, the Giant Medicine Balls are on the average soft and this makes them easy to grip and use, safe, even if more demanding. In fact, there are numerous exercises which include, at the end of the reference motor scheme, an explosive part with the throwing of the ball towards a wall or a slight rebound (hence the name Wall Ball). The versatility of the tool is such that entire workouts can be performed by training all parts of the body (legs, core, trunk), achieving different objectives according to specific needs. Beyond the numerous applications and construction features, what makes the Giant Medicine Ball unique is also the possibility of being used in confined spaces, at home for example.
Imagining an entire work-out we must consider that the simple fact of holding a large ball in the hands implies an important isometric work aimed at conditioning the entire shoulder girdle, which leads to a potential improvement in terms of posture. With the correct execution of the exercises of functional training it is possible to use the tool both as an overload in carrying out, for example, lunges in the three planes of movement, or as an unstable support base on which to perform push-ups, or, more in general, as an overload in exercises dedicated to strength, speed and coordination; i.e. the components of the MOVEMENT. Coordination skills, whether basic (general) or specific (special), are certainly those that can derive the greatest benefits from training performed with Giant Medicine Balls. Very important benefits because motor coordination is one of the fundamental prerequisites for sports performance. Beginners will be able to train basic coordination through slow motor circuits, while athletes will be able to train specific coordination through more complex exercises, inherent to the sport of reference, performed quickly, with explosiveness, in order to improve reaction and adaptation to the exercise itself.
The Giant Medicine Balls are a valid ally in CORE TRAINING we were saying, their use always involves a high commitment of the "center of the body" and always a functional, global type of training, even when the initial intention appears to be to perform an analytical exercise .
Let's take a concrete example. One of the best known and most widespread exercises is the “TORSION CRUNCH”. Performed holding a large medicine ball in your hands, this exercise, in itself technical and demanding, becomes even more effective and training for the abdomen, i.e. for the complex formed by the rectus abdominis, the internal and external obliques and the transverse, particularly stimulated by partial rotation of the torso. However, note that although attention is focused on the abdomen, it is impossible to perform the exercise without involving other muscle groups as a "support and frame". In fact, no less important, the muscles that support the correct execution of this movement are mainly the rectus femoris, the ilio psoas, the paravertebral muscles, the latissimus dorsi. In order for the execution to be correct, the athlete must pay attention to some precautions; starting from a seated position, heels off the ground, feet "hammer", pelvis in antiversion, torso slightly inclined backwards, rotations performed in an orderly manner, with the Giant Med Ball following the movement of the torso.
These are therefore global exercises, which imply a good knowledge of the movement and for this reason it is advisable to learn how to perform them with the help of a professional trainer.
