LATEX LOOP – Medium Strength
The Latex Loop, also called an elastic band, is a simple, light and particularly comfortable circular elastic ring. Its use is really broad, from specific athletic training to functional training and fitness activities. The Latex Loop represents the cheapest form of elastic bands for group activities and its ease of use and transport make this product perfect for many athletic trainers and trainers, but also for fitness enthusiasts in general.
Latex Loop Band 0520-22-24 or Latex Loop 0511-12 what are the differences?
These are two very similar elastic bands, both from the point of view of use and in terms of resistance.
- The Latex Loop Bands 0520-22-24 are recommended for exercises dedicated to fitness and aesthetic goals. The range also includes light resistance (LIGHT) and the width of the elastic means greater comfort. The 30 cm length makes it slightly easier to exercise and insert the legs into the elastic.
- Latex Loops 0511-12 are more suitable for exercises dedicated to athletic preparation. They are also offered in packs of 30 and 100 for teams and heavy duty use. The range does not include light resistance: only medium and heavy. The 25 cm length causes the elastic resistance to activate earlier than the 30 cm elastics, a relevant aspect in the main conditioning exercises: lateral walks, hip abduction and adduction, knee stabilization, general proprioception, etc.
The resistance of the elastics is progressive. To allow a practical orientation between the different models, we give two indications of resistance expressed in kilograms: the first refers to the force necessary for the elastic to start to deform, i.e. to stretch, while the second refers to the force necessary to lengthen the elastic up to 100cm.
Latex Loop Band | Latex Loops | force required for it to begin to deform |
force required to extend it up to 100 cm |
0520 Light (silver) | 2 Kg | 7 Kg | |
0522 Medium (gray) | 0511 Medium (green) | 3 Kg | 9 Kg |
0524 Strong (black) | 0512 Strong (blue) | 4 kg | 11 kg |
These are indicative values, which we wanted to express in kilograms to allow for practical orientation. Thus, the Latex Loop 0512, blue colour, strong resistance, begins to stretch with a force equal to about 4 kg, reaching 11 kg when its stretch reaches one metre. It is a high resistance for the type of exercises usually performed with these tools and the figure of 11 kg must not be hastily confused with the weight used in lifting exercises.
The positioning of the Latex Loop
The most common use of these elastic bands concerns exercises for the lower limbs, in which the muscles of the gluteus (small, medium and large), hamstrings and quadriceps are significantly "activated". In this case it is usually positioned at knee height, where the perceived resistance is medium, or at the ankles, where the perceived resistance is greater.
The principle on which this principle is based is none other than that of the lever, increasing the distance between the fulcrum and the resistance must also increase the muscle activation to overcome it. The same principle can be used for the upper body, trunk and arms, thus creating an infinite number of possible combinations of exercises.
The benefits and qualities trained
Whether placed in the upper and/or lower body, the response you get is increased stimulation of the neuromuscular system. In fact, its use is perfect for improving all qualities: speed - agility - power - resistance. The enormous benefits conferred by its use are mainly due to theglobal training that it entails as the movements are not sectorised, isolating the muscles that are responsible for them, but motor skills are trained as a whole.
The application to athletic training and strength training
The Latex Loop is available in both medium (cod. 0511) and strong (cod. 0512) resistance, so that it can be used by any type of user, but also in a different way depending on our goal. In fact, in specific athletic preparation, a light resistance is preferred for the improvement of reactivity, agility and speed as it allows to re-propose the same motor pattern of the specific practice by adding a slight resistance. To improve these qualities, its use could be combined with other small tools such as Agility ladder and / or balance pad. Among the various exercises we can mention the most used: Banded skip, Lateral shuffle, Monster walk, 2in1 out.
For the improvement of strength and power, however, it is preferable to use the More resistant Latex Loop (code 0512). In this case it can be used in combination with specific exercises such as leaps, sprints and changes of direction. In fact, one of its strengths is the ease of positioning, ankles and/or knees, allowing for immediate exercise variations without wasting time. In this way the athlete can perform exercises with elastic resistance, thus performing a pre-fatigue, and then follow the specific gesture. Not only free body, the latex loop can also be combined very well with exercises to be performed with overloads. For example, during the execution of a back squat it stimulates the neuromuscular system to maintain the right executive technique by maximizing the activation of the gluteus and avoiding the internal rotation of the knees during the squat.
Finally, Latex Loops can also be very useful if used as a pre-competition warm-up or as an excellent cool down, going to strengthen muscles and/or joints that need them.
Latex Loops in fitness and functional training
Latex Loops are an excellent ally to be included even during toning and functional training lessons. In fact, the elastic resistance constantly stimulates our neuromuscular system to remain active in such a way as to "overcome" the tension created by the band. In fact, it represents an auxotonic contraction, i.e. a concentric contraction, in which the muscle tension gradually increases as the muscle shortens (the prefix "auxo" in fact means "growth"). This happens when the external resistance tends to increase during the contraction (this is the case of training with rubber bands). As resistance increases, the muscle will therefore have to express a proportional increase in tension.
Adding the Latex Loop to functional training circuits will improve intra- and inter-muscular activation, making us even more aware of the movements we are performing. Furthermore, with its use the entire core is strengthened: during the execution of any movement with the Latex Loop, in fact, we are forced to activate the entire trunk musculature in order to counteract any torsion movements that could occur. Among the most popular exercises we mention: Banded squat, Banded bridge, Clam shell, Hip abduction, Mmonster walk, Sumo walk but also Banded Push-up, Banded row and Hands walk.

Machine maintenance
These are Latex products. This material is susceptible, over time, to the evaporation of the chemical agents which make this type of rubber elastic.
To lengthen the life of this product, you can follow a few steps:
- Avoid keeping the loops at rest outdoors and especially in the sun or strong light: Air, light sources and UV rays are accelerators in the deterioration of the latex.
- If possible, keep them in an airtight bag after performing the exercises.
- Avoid using them by anchoring them on components with sharp edges (for example some tool racks)
- Wash only with warm water. Do not use cleaning products: Degreasers, alcohol, oils are all aggressive for this material.
- After washing and always before use, sprinkle the elastic with talcum powder. The talc greatly reduces deterioration, and favors use by preventing the latex from gripping hands or tools, also giving a better sensation.
- just received the elastic and also regularly, every 2-3 months after washing with warm water you can proceed to lubricate the elastic using a silicone lubricant, such as "WD-40 silicone lubricant" (WARNING! DO NOT the WD-40 Standard, which is aggressive). This procedure can prolong the life of the elastic and avoid the typical white patina of this material.
- Do not experiment with cleaning or lubrication with products that may seem harmless: vaseline oil for example is harmful to latex, as is olive oil. Similarly amuchina or degreasers are very harmful. Follow the instructions above.
