POWER LOOP
The Power Loops are high-strength elastic bands, 1000 mm long, which can be used for multiple applications: pull-up aids, training with barbells, running held in pairs, bodyweight exercises against resistance.
The resistance of the elastics is progressive. To allow a practical and effective orientation between the different elastic bands, we give two indications of resistance expressed in kilograms: the first refers to the force necessary for the elastic to start to deform, i.e. to stretch, while the second refers to the force necessary to stretch the +100 cm elastic.
Power Loop model |
Color |
Force required for it to start to deform |
Force required to extend it by +100 cm |
code 0513 SLIM elastic | Red | 5 Kg | 6 Kg |
code 0514 elastic MINI | Black | 10 Kg | 12 Kg |
code 0515 X-LIGHT elastic | Viola | 15 Kg | 20 Kg |
code 0516 elastic LIGHT | Verde | 20 Kg | 30 Kg |
code 0517 MEDIUM elastic | Blue | 25 Kg | 50 Kg |
code 0518 STRONG elastic | Orange | 30 Kg | 60 Kg |
These are indicative values, which we wanted to express in kilograms to allow for practical orientation. Therefore, the Power Loop cod. 0518, orange colour, very resistant, begins to stretch with a force equal to 30 kg reaching 60 kg when its stretching reaches one metre.
The resistors ranging from 0513 to 0516 are the most used in assisted Muscle Ups.
Insight: the Power Loop
I Power Loops are elastic bands closed in a ring, present in various sizes and resistances, and have achieved great success in recent years thanks to the growing interest in thefunctional workout. Resistance with elastic loop bands has already been known and used for years by numerous athletic trainers and/or calisthenics experts. Athletic trainers who are no longer very young will well remember the use of the inner tubes of bicycle wheels used to strengthen muscles, perform towing exercises or as a "spotter" for the more difficult exercises.
One of the greatest forerunners of auxotonic training is the physiotherapist of the German national football team Erich Deuser. Already in the early 50s he had a ring band produced in order to strengthen and train the musculoskeletal system of his athletes and he noticed great advantages in treating his patients' ailments through specific exercises. He also wrote a manual, "Die Deuserband Gymnastik", which represents a sort of handbook on exercises that can be performed with elastic resistance. The term "functional training" can already be found in this book, for this very reason, from the very beginning, the Power loop represents an excellent product that can be used in one's functional training programs.
Advantages and versatility
The Power loop is a tool comfortable, light and versatile, simple to use and easy to carry wherever you want: at the park, on vacation, at work or at the playground. It is present in different sizes and resistances, from the smallest, the SLIM model code 0513 (red color, 6 kg of resistance measured at 100 cm of stretch) up to the largest, model STRONG cod. 0518 (orange color, 60 kg resistance measured at 100 cm stretch).
One of its greatest advantages is the possibility of being able to anchor it to any fixed or non-fixed structure: whether it is a bar on which to perform pull-ups, a hook on the ground or our own feet, the power loop allows us to perform in absolute safety any type of exercise.
Power Loops and training
The use of this product is often associated with sports practice, especially in athletic trainingand functional training. In fact, many athletic trainers integrate specific strength sessions with more dynamic and explosive exercises with the Power Loop. The type of muscle contraction is auxotonic and increases progressively as the elastic band stretches. In field exercises it is preferred to the use of weights since it is "personalised", i.e. it responds differently depending on the strength and explosiveness of the user. Thanks to this characteristic, in fact, the time required for loading and/or unloading the balance wheel is almost eliminated as its use is simple and fast.
It is usually offered as an "aid" in performing exercises such as Pull-up e muscle-up, as it gives a push, depending on the resistance of the Loop itself, which allows the full execution of the required movement. This is one of the many uses it can have but it would be really simplistic to entrust it only with this feature. The Power Loop in fact allows the execution of all the 7 fundamental movements:
- Squat: front squat – overhead squat – tempo squat – split squat
- Lung: forward/backward/lateral lunge
- Bend: good morning – deadlift – swing
- Rotation: trunk rotation – woodchop
- Pullover: high row – low row – alternate row – pull up – chin up
- Push: chest press – overhead press – triceps extension – dip
- Locomotion: running – skip – shuffle – jump squat
These are some examples of esercizi that can be performed with the Power Loop. Its use is usually proposed in the phases of warm up need cool down as it allows the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular apparatus to correctly learn the movement to be performed without requiring sudden and explosive contractions, which could be "harmful" if not ready for such efforts. Another feature is that of the “full body activation”. In order to perform the exercise correctly, the Power Loop requires acore activation as the type of muscle contraction, auxotonic, creates a continuous destabilization and without voluntary control and good proprioception it would be impossible to perform the movement. Its use, especially if associated with a specific sporting gesture, allows the development of various skills: agility, speed, power and endurance. It is no coincidence that several athletic trainers use the Power Loop as an active resistance to be overcome during the various movements, tying it to the athlete's waist or placing an extreme on the limb to be strengthened. In the case of a tennis player for example, it can be effectively applied to the waist or arms, holding one end of the Power Loop in the hand in order to simulate the racket.
Fitness and more
The use of the Power Loop is not limited only to the sports and fitness world, but can also be extended to holistic activities e physiotherapy.
In holistic activities it offers resistance that changes and is managed according to the user. It is also excellent for general toning exercises but also as an aid for stretching and postural gymnastics exercises. The advantage is that of allowing the body to reach certain positions slowly and gradually and to be able to maintain them without problems and fatigue.
In the field of physiotherapy, the Power Loop creates, as already mentioned, a destabilization which forces our body to modulate movements by activating the deep muscles, i stabilizer muscles. Whether it's an exercise to strengthen the rotator cuff or a power walk performed with a belt, the elastic band will allow the exercise to be carried out by activating all the proprioceptive systems of our body in order to modulate their action.
Machine maintenance
The Power loops produced in Latex. This material is susceptible, over time, to the evaporation of the chemical agents which make this type of rubber elastic.
To lengthen the life of this product, you can follow a few steps:
- Avoid keeping the loops at rest outdoors and especially in the sun or strong light: Air, light sources and UV rays are accelerators in the deterioration of the latex.
- If possible, keep them in an airtight bag after performing the exercises.
- Avoid using the loops by anchoring them on components with sharp edges (for example some tool racks)
- Wash only with warm water. Do not use cleaning products: Degreasers, alcohol, oils are all aggressive for this material.
- After washing and always before use, sprinkle the elastic with talcum powder. The talc greatly reduces deterioration, and favors use by preventing the latex from gripping hands or tools, also giving a better sensation.
- just received the elastic and also regularly, every 2-3 months after washing with warm water you can proceed to lubricate the elastic using a silicone lubricant, such as "WD-40 silicone lubricant" (WARNING! DO NOT the WD-40 Standard, which is aggressive). This procedure can prolong the life of the elastic and avoid the typical white patina of this material.
- Do not experiment with cleaning or lubrication with products that may seem harmless: vaseline oil for example is harmful to latex, as is olive oil. Similarly amuchina or degreasers are very harmful. Follow the instructions above.
