The Support Cushion is a cushion made of expanded polyurethane, covered with PVC, useful in all applications where it is necessary to have a comfortable but not easily deformable support for exercises performed above all on the floor. The high density of the polyurethane in fact, it allows this tool to perform effectively support function without deforming by crushing completely even if subjected to heavy weights. This allows you to use the pillow as lumbar, cervical, or some limb support, in order to condition the posture during exercises or treatments. The rounded wedge shape allows the widest range of solutions in height and possible positioning.

Abdominal workout
Il Support Cushion it also finds wide use as a tool for performing exercises for abs workout, hence the oft-used name of Ab Mat (or Abdominal Support Pillow). Placed under the lumbar area, it facilitates the stretching of the rectus abdominis during crunches, performing the function of support for the rachis, in such a way as to support the physiological lumbar curve. This is an important application, as attempting to restore one spinal curve can positively impact the successful restoration of all other curves and postural alignment. After all, respecting or recovering the correct conformation of the spine is of great importance, both for well-being and for sports performance.
Furthermore, by positioning the cushion it is possible to vary the intensity of the crunches. If the support is positioned in the lumbar region, the intensity will in fact be greater, due to a wider movement, while it will be less if positioned in the thoracic region. A very useful tool for trainers, therefore, a sort of ally, to be used with beginners but also with advanced athletes who have postural problems.
Other uses of the Support Cushion
Another way to use the Support Cushion can be in the prone position. Resting the chest on the pillow at the level of the xiphoid process of the sternum, align straight arms above the head while also lifting the feet off the floor. The only point of contact will therefore be that of the chest on the pillow. The exercise consists in emphasizing the movement and above all the activation of the posterior chain in its entirety. The activation will start from the feet, rigorously positioned like a hammer, up to the muscles of the cervical spine.
