Outdoor training solutions for public spaces

Parks and public gardens, but also squares, beaches and, in general, outdoor spaces where you can freely train in the open air. The spread of disciplines such as calisthenics and cross-training, combined with the fascination of carrying out physical activity in contact with nature, is increasingly leading to the need to enrich public spaces intended for recreation and free time with fixed and multi-functional, which allow to amplify the possibilities of training in this context.

The EN 16630:2015 and EN 1176 standards

Set-ups of this type are subject to specific Community regulations, which bind their characteristics to certain safety limits. The direct accessibility of this equipment by users who are not necessarily trained and/or supervised by qualified personnel (as occurs in private environments, such as gyms), makes it necessary to design structures, accessories and any flooring in order to make them as safe as possible .

Specifically, for fixed structures the standard in question is EN 16630:2015, while for floors the standards EN 71.3, EN 1176 and EN 1177.

The Public Islands Sidea

For this type of context we have introduced the series of structures, accessories and flooring "Public Island" entirely thought out to provide outdoor training solutions in public spaces a free access and designed in compliance with the aforementioned safety standards.

A fundamental element of these "islands" for Outdoor Training is certainly the structure, which is available in two versions: the Public Island Rack cod. 9085/1 and the Public Island OUTRACE T6 cod. T6BCP.

La Public Island Rack combines minimal design with extensive training possibilities, especially with regards to the functional training, calisthenics and cross training. The Rack can be purchased individually, or combined with other modules in the series Public Island, Or the playbox, Bench-Dept and Parallels. The Full Optional version (including all the elements mentioned) has the code 9085.

La Public Island OUTRACE T6 instead it takes up the design of the series of structures OUTRACE, however adapted in this case in order to comply with the EN 16630 standard and implemented through the addition of fixed components connected directly to the main structure. This model, unlike the rack, is to be considered a Full Optional, As all components I am already included in the code. T6BCP, including the Parallels and the Plyoboxes (the only elements independent from the main structure).

Fixing the Public Island Rack

The structures and accessories of the Public Island line can be purchased with two different fixing kits::

  • Fixing kit for concrete plateaus
  • Fixing kit for concrete manhole plinths

Il Kit for concrete plateau it is suitable for anchoring the structure in the presence of a reinforced concrete slab with a minimum thickness of 12cm.

The creation of the concrete slab is not included in the product.

The dimensions of the stalls can be supplied by our technical office on the basis of a personalized layout, or according to the standard layouts which can be viewed in the DATASHEET present on this page.
The kit includes threaded rods with chemical anchor.
The adoption of a concrete slab as a base implies, according to the UNI EN 16630 standard, the presence of an anti-trauma flooring with a minimum thickness of 40mm, for example 9198 o 9199. The aim is to cushion the user's accidental fall during training.

Flooring is not included in this product.

Il Kit for Plinths it is a fixing system which allows you to avoid the creation of a reinforced concrete slab, by fixing the Rack to the plinths-pits placed under each upright.
The solution, cheaper and with a lower environmental impact, makes it possible, in compliance with the UNI EN 16630 standard, to adopt the lawn as a substrate, avoiding the installation of an anti-trauma flooring, which is still recommended.
The fixing kit consists of height-adjustable spacers placed under the fixing plates of each upright.
This adjustment system allows you to level, simply and quickly, any misalignments of the underground plinths.
The concrete well plinths, internal dimensions of 40x40x40cm, will in fact be buried at a depth of 60cm and filled with concrete following the complete assembly of the structure.
The well plinths intended for fixing the Plyobox code 9085/4, /5, /6 must be positioned flush with the ground and already filled with concrete.
The legislation requires a distance of at least 20 cm between the plinth and the surface of the ground.

The construction and installation of the plinths are not included in the product.

Following the installation of the plinths-pit by an appointed third-party company (basement and plinths are not included in the product and cannot be made by our installers), the installers of the structure will proceed to position the fixing kit inside the plinths- cockpit and complete assembly of the Rack.
Once the assembly of the Rack has been completed, the third-party company responsible for building the plinths will fill them with concrete and subsequently restore the turf.
Also in this case, the arrangement of the plinths will be provided by our technical office.

flooring: Playground and ecogym 40

Within the Public Island we have designed two different solutions regarding the technical rubber flooring, in compliance with the aforementioned rules relating to public spaces:

Public Island Playground: these are "all-in-one" solutions, already inclusive of a lower cement screed covered on the surface by a 40 cm thick layer of poured rubber, characterized by a chromatic contrast to highlight the different workstations. Playgrounds are available in two models, the code 9085_F and the code T6BCP_F, pre-configured respectively for the Public Island Rack version and OUTRACE T6 version.

The need for a cement screed as the basis for the rubber pouring makes this flooring model compatible only with the versions of the Public Islands with the kit for fixing to the concrete plateau.

EcoGym 40: these are tiles made from an agglomeration of brick-red colored recycled rubber granules, with dimensions 1 x1 m e thickness 40 mm.
The tiles of EcoGym 40 they are perfectly compliant with the safety standards relating to public spaces and, being fixed to each other via lateral pins, they can completely cover the areas intended for training so as to form a stable base free of irregularities.

Ecogym tiles can be placed both directly above the ground and on hard substrates such as asphalt or cement screeds, consequently it is compatible with all three methods of fixing the Public Islands to the ground.
