In physical training there are different characteristics to influence, from Strength to Endurance, from Joint Mobility to Coordination, Balance, Stabilization, Speed, Power. Although they are all important, too often for simplicity we focus on the skills most closely related to the goal to be achieved, and neglect all the others. This speech is valid for example for Joint Mobility, but also for another characteristic that concerns the training of each person: the "semi-unknown" Proprioception.
Even the word would lead to avoid it, but also for the most daring and extreme connoisseurs of physical training it is often reduced to the mere use of unstable tablets, which are precisely called "proprioceptive tablets" (as if they were inherent by nature...). Even more serious is training with protocols Functional Training but ignoring theproprioceptive training, or reducing it to exercises which, rather than Functional Training, become pure folklore performances: in addition to not improving any physical capacity, this type of approach does nothing but create dys-functional neuro-muscular and postural adaptations, given that they do not take into account of the motor biomechanics of the human body.
Each program of Functional Training worthy of the name must aim to do rediscover their own neuro-motor potential to the person who trains. This necessarily goes through the construction of the body awareness in each movement performed during training. Simply put, this happens through the construction of the ProprioceptionThese are:
The ability to perceive and control one's body in space in real time, within the construction of "biomechanically clean" and increasingly complex neuro-motor schemes.
The development of Proprioception falls under what is defined as the conditioning of coordination skills, which in turn are fundamental for the increase of all the Conditional Abilities (Strength, Speed, Power and Endurance) of the person, whether he is an athlete or a simple amateur practitioner. The development of coordination skills must follow a precise progressive order, which goes from the construction of the General coordination, To Special coordination where the Proprioceptive System plays a fundamental role, up to the specific coordination, which is decisive in the refined technical execution of the various sports.
In the following Video the WTA Senior Coach Evgenia Babrovskaya presents theProprioceptive training with the Flowbag.
Flowbag Training to build a functional and proprioceptive body
Although the development of the Coordination and of the annex Proprioception proves to be fundamental in the construction of the foundation of each person, we must not forget that the construction of the foundation comes even first Joint mobility, an indispensable condition to be able to guarantee a posturally correct structure on which to implant and consolidate increasingly diversified and complex neuro-motor patterns over time.
This is where the Flowbags, which thanks to its characteristic constitution of bag containing water, obliges the person to continuous control of the tool itself in increasingly complex and unstable movement trajectories, resulting in one constant proprioceptive conditioning need global stabilization starting from the Core (central nucleus of the body).
In practical terms, the Flowbag Training (as well as other training systems of the WTA Functional Training System such as Flying suspension training, Kettlebell training or Clubs Training), requiring in each exercise first a perfect postural control, and then the continuous control of the body's center of gravity along all trajectories of movement, allows you to build a extremely functional proprioception to daily movements and all sports motor schemes, which is very different from traditional proprioceptive work on unstable tablets. In fact, the latter is disconnected from the motor schemes whose functions need to be recovered or increased, as it does not allow the association of advanced and reproducible motor schemes in practice with real daily and sports neuro-motor schemes.
Training with the Flowbags may be the keystone of the real multiplanar global proprioceptive training, but only with an optimal knowledge of the executive technique of the exercises in full respect of the biomechanics of the body, and of the programming of functional training, can its extraordinary characteristics be optimized.
