The criteria for choosing a mat can be different. One tip would be to start with the type of activity and a premise regarding thickness.
The thickness of the mat is of little significance if one disregards the specific characteristics of the material of which it is made.
To put it simply, one could say that for dynamic activities, where more stability and grip is needed, thinner mats are recommended, while for less dynamic activities, which involve holding certain positions, thicker mats are recommended.
From a practical point of view, however, it is almost impossible to define a precise distinction a priori according to the activity, since, especially in the gym, these tools end up being multi-purpose.
For this reason, our product range is centred on average values ranging from 4 to 15 mm, and the major differences relate to the type of material, on which durability depends, and the structural characteristics, on which user-friendliness depends.
But if activity and thickness cannot be easily correlated, what could be the criteria of choice?
We suggest five, in order of importance:
- Use with or without shoes.
Shoe soles are the enemy of floor matsespecially when performing exercises that require high grip and thus high friction and abrasion. The recommended models for this kind of situation, which will always result in a high degree of wear and tear, are code mats:
3024,
3025,
0400,
0400/1,
0401.
Models not recommended code 3016,
Specific for use without shoes, code 0407.
The short model mats are designed so that the shoes remain external codes:

0403/1 - Comfort function on the floor.
The mat is chosen to soothe floor pain, e.g. pain in the sacrum during abdominal exercises.
Recommended models codes:
0400
0400/1
1000
The cushion and support cod.1000 can be placed in this category, based on its specific function as a support for abdominal exercises, so much so that it is also described as an abdominal cushion or AB Mat. - Insulation function from uneven surfaces.
This is the case with grassy or uncomfortable ground, which can be found in outdoor training.

in case a roll-up and transportable mat is required. - Economic Criterion.
For reasons of practicality due to specific contexts, there are professional activities that prefer to choose inexpensive mats, replacing them every 6 or 12 months. Recommended models codes:
3016,
0407. - Practicality of use.
Roll-up mats are the most popular, also due to their portability outside, but they are by no means the most practical inside the gym. Even using racks cod. 0397 e cod. 0398 to hang mats, use in classrooms always involves some confusion and not infrequently, footsteps and breakage. The most important feature must be the ease with which the mat adheres to the ground, almost losing its fold when rolled up. Our roll-up mats have this quality, codes:
3024,
3025 ,
3016,
3014,
In terms of practicality, one-piece mats codes
0401,
0403
0403/1 can be considered the best. Their rigidity and lightness make it easy to move around inside the gym, to position themselves, and to adhere perfectly to the floor.
Of course, external transportability is limited.
The folding mats, codes:
0400,
0400/1,
0407,
combine some of the qualities of monoblocs with the transportability quality of roll-ups. The most important characteristic must be the ease with which the mat folds and unfolds easily, adhering well to the floor. In this respect, EVA is by far the best material.
Code landing mats also belong to this category:
0405
0406,
which, in addition to cushioning falls, can also be used as a work surface for pre-sport, sports and rehabilitation exercises, with particular reference to functional training on an unstable base, preparatory to improving coordination and balance.
