SuperPump: the Sidea selection
The term ‘SuperPump’ refers to a group fitness programme structured around the use of a light barbell (Ø 28 mm) loaded with small weight plates, which is moved in time to music whilst following a sequence of exercises led by the instructor. The principle is simple: high repetitions, moderate loads, and rapid transitions between different muscle groups. The result is a workout that simultaneously develops local muscular endurance, motor coordination and aerobic capacity. Sidea offers a complete range of dedicated products, from <a href=

PU (polyurethane) mats are the most durable: they are abrasion-resistant and retain their colour and shape even after years of intensive use. Vinyl mats are a more affordable initial investment but tend to wear out sooner in high-traffic areas. Neoprene offers a soft grip and good resistance to moisture, making it suitable for warmer climates or situations involving heavy sweating.

A training room with 20–25 places generally requires between 15 and 20 complete sets, bearing in mind that some participants use different weights and that some of the sets are always being assembled or dismantled. For classes with a wide range of fitness levels, it is useful to have a stock of individual 0.5 and 1 kg weight plates to customise the load.
-
SuperPump barbells have a diameter of 28 mm at each end: they are compatible with standard aerobics and pump weights of the same diameter, but not with 50 mm Olympic weights. Use with Olympic weights requires an adapter or a different Olympic barbell.
-
SuperPump barbells are designed for light loads, typically between 5 and 20 kg in total, including the barbell itself. They are not intended for powerlifting: their purpose is high-volume muscle endurance training. Exceeding a total of 20–25 kg is not recommended, both for safety during a guided, high-repetition class and to preserve the equipment’s lifespan.

The Large Pump Rack is designed to keep the assembled kits in an upright position, reducing the time needed to set up the hall before the lesson. For optimal positioning, the rack should be placed along a side wall, with the kits numbered to facilitate distribution. The free space required for each station during the class is approximately 1.5 x 2 metres to ensure that lateral mobility exercises can be performed safely.

In a group class with participants of mixed ability, lock collars significantly reduce load-changing times and minimise the risk of the plates slipping during dynamic movements such as cleans or thrusters. Standard steel springs are suitable for fixed-load sessions where the plates are not changed during the class.
