OLYMPIC BARBELL FOR CROSSFIT ®

Crossfit® has strongly influenced the way Olympic barbells are used and changed certain quality standards. In fact, the introduction of weight training within circuits with a high number of repetitions, in areas that are more or less suitable for barbell falls, has changed the load and type of work required of this important piece of equipment.

Lifting weights at high repetition rates implies, first of all, a very high 'dropping stress' for the swivel assembly of the disc holder collars, which can lead to fatigue failure. This occurs when a component is damaged under the action of cyclic stresses even though the maximum stress values remain below the breaking point. For this reason the Crossfit® Olympic Barbell code 9015/9 adopts the same construction solutions as the Premium Olympic Balancers, Code 9015/4 e Code 9015/5steel with very high tensile values, bearings, bushings, to which are added some specificities able to better cope with the micro-deformations induced by the stress cycle.

Two compensating shims were added to the inside of the collars to further reduce the assembly's tolerances, especially during deformation. In addition to the needle bearings, ball bearings were also added, positioned on the outermost part of the collars, in order to make the Crossfit® Barbell more resilient in "absorbing" falls with medium-low loads. Weight around 20 - 40 kg, high number of repetitions, i.e. falls, are the most stressful condition for the components of an Olympic Barbell, greater than falls with very high loads. Finally, each component undergoes a CND (non-destructive) check to verify the absence of manufacturing defects that may trigger cracks (cracks invisible to the eye that may be a prelude to breakage).

The knurling of the Crossfit® barbell also has a specificity because, although it is medium, diamond-cut, like all Premium barbells, it has the particularity of having a hollow tip (also known as a 'volcano') and not a flat one. This peculiarity allows a better magnesite action and a more effective grip in a context, such as Crossfit® training, with a high number of repetitions. After all, a balanced ratio between grip and consequent abrasiveness of the hands and tibial area is what coaches and athletes require most.

The bar of the Crossfit® barbell is manufactured from special alloy steel that has been hardened and tempered. As with the Premium barbells, these are high-carbon, high-silicon steels with very high tensile values (spring steel), values far beyond what is humanly achievable through gymnastic weightlifting exercises.

BARBELL SELECTION GUIDE

We produce a wide range of barbells that can be divided into three categories: Olympic, Hybrid, Specialised.

1- Olympians

Olympic weightlifting barbells, or weightlifting barbells, built to IWF standards.

Top of the range are the two PREMIUM models with chrome bars in black: 9015/4 MALE, 9015/5 FEMALE.These are barbells made of steel with high tensile values, which adopt the best construction solutions for snatch and sprint exercises and the associated falls on the platform.As with all our Olympic barbells, the knurling is medium, suitable for training, especially with regard to hand health. Two models called TRAINING complete the range: 9015/4C H-PERFORMANCE and 9015/8. These barbells are designed to achieve the best possible balance between usage requirements, construction quality and production costs. The 9015/4C is the model with the highest-performance steel and the same equipment inside the collars as the premium barbell. The 9015/8, on the other hand, is the model with lower performance characteristics, because bars with high tensile values and high production costs are not always required. For this reason, the data sheet of the barbell also shows the maximum loads per type of operation. The 9015/9 OLYMPIC CROSSFIT® BALANCE BAR: this is a barbell with high production costs because it is built for high repetition weightlifting, with a very high 'dropping stress' and with numerous solutions specifically designed for cross training.

2- Hybrids

In this category we find two barbells: 9015/3 BARBELL TRAINING 185 and 9014 BARBELL TRAINING 140.

These barbells have the main characteristics of Olympic barbells, from which they differ in their overall length: 185 and 140 cm precisely. These differences are useful in terms of size and training, as these barbells are high-performance and extremely versatile thanks to their shorter bar length.

3- Specialists

The category of specialised barbells is numerous in that each barbell is designed in response to specific technical training and usage requirements.

9015 OLYMPIC POWERLIFTING BARBELLborn in our gym, it is an atypical Olympic barbell with a bar diameter of 32 mm instead of the usual 29 mm.
9015/2 COMPETITION POWERLIFT BARBELL 29 mm: designed on the basis of the technical rules dictated by the IPF, it is characterised by its high build quality.
9015/7 BARBELL AXLE 50: barbell with a very large diameter handle, 51 mm, useful in athletic training programmes.
9014/1 LIGHTWEIGHT ALUMINIUM BARBELL e 9015/1 INTRODUCTORY LIGHT BARBELLThese are two lightweight barbells that are useful when learning weightlifting techniques; snatch and momentum. The first is a true technical light barbell, while the second is an economical solution that is also useful for having several barbells for group training and classes.
9027 EZ ANGULAR BALANCER and 9027P EZ PREMIUM ANGLED BARBELL: classic angled barbells for training biceps. Effective and spartan the former, with bearings and a superior finish the latter. SEE COMPARATIVE.
9011/1 SAFETY SQUAT BARBELL: a barbell with shoulder straps useful in circumventing certain joint mobility limitations that would impair the ability to perform squats. In terms of variation in training, it is worth noting how the high load control positively affects the versatility of the equipment, which lends itself to performing lunges, single leg exercises, bulgarian squats, step ups, etc.
8710-8745 Pre-loaded balances and 8610-8645 EZ preloaded berbellThese are two sets of 10-45 kg preloaded barbells, consisting of 10 barbells per set. A classic of physical culture because the preloaded barbells allow for maximum ease of use, especially in step sets, super sets and all similar techniques without breaks between exercise series.
9027/1 TRICEPS BARThis is an imaginative barbell, designed for training triceps, which offers the possibility of performing alternative holds to traditional barbells.
9012 Olympic Hex Bar, 9012/1 Super Hex Bar, 9012/2 Olympic Hex Bar Compact, 9012/3 Low Hex Bar, 9012/4 Open Hex Bar: these are different interpretations of the hexagonal bar, developed to meet different usage requirements. The 9012 Olympic Hex Bar is a classic hex bar, featuring 40 cm long loading sleeves, which are also suitable for wide-shouldered discs. The 9012/1 Super Hex Bar offers a more articulated configuration: in addition to the raised disc holders, which facilitate loading and unloading, it is equipped with a multi-diameter rotating grip. On the other hand, the 9012/2 Olympic Hex Bar Compact is a traditional hex bar in a more compact version, with sleeve lengths of 32 cm. The 9012/3 Low Hex Bar is a quadra bar sui generis, designed for specific athletic training and to guarantee a high degree of freedom of movement in all planes, with particular reference to the depth of lunges and squats. The discs are horizontally oriented. The 9012/4 Open Hex Bar, an evolution of its predecessor, is designed for a wider and more transversal use, with particular attention to compactness, practicality of use and operational versatility.
