GIANT MEDICINE BALL
Giant Medicine Balls are large, leather-covered medicine balls. They are robust but not hard, with a moderate rebound, specially designed for functional training. Also called Wall Balls, they are available in a wide range of weights, from 2 to 20 kg, and their diameter does not vary with weight.
The use of Giant Medicine Balls allows increased speed and power in load transfers requiring continuous coordination and stabilisation. They are used extensively in group training, personal training, pair work and athletic training. They are not recommended for slam, violent ground throws because there is a risk of damaging them. The material used to make them is faux leather for the outer covering, sandbags and cotton pieces for the inner padding.

Training with Giant Medicine Balls
Giant Medicine Balls have carved out a prominent place for themselves in the world of training due to their characteristics and wide application possibilities. They have become particularly popular in the area of functional training, which primarily involves performing everyday gestures in a sporting manner, while at the same time taking care of posture and execution.
Due to its 'large' dimensions, this type of equipment is very useful within athletic preparation protocols, core-training work and strength training. In addition, unlike classic medicine balls, Giant Medicine Balls are moderately soft, making them easy and safe to grip and use, even if more demanding. In fact, there are numerous exercises that provide, at the end of the motor scheme of reference, an explosive part with the throwing of the ball towards a wall or a slight drop (hence the name Wall Ball). The versatility of the equipment is such that entire workouts can be performed, training all parts of the body (legs, core, trunk), achieving different goals according to specific needs. Beyond the numerous applications and construction features, what makes the Giant Medicine Ball unique is that it can also be used in confined spaces, in the home for example.
Imagining an entire work-out, we have to consider that the mere fact of holding a large ball in the hands implies an important isometric workout for the conditioning of the entire scapulohumeral girdle, which leads to a potential improvement in posture. With the correct execution of functional training exercises, it is possible to use the equipment either as an overload in performing, for example, lunges in the three planes of movement, or as an unstable support base on which to perform push-ups, or, more generally, as an overload in exercises dedicated to strength, speed and coordination; in other words, to the components of MOVEMENT. Coordination skills, whether basic (general) or specific (special), are certainly those that can benefit the most from training with the Giant Medicine Ball. Very important benefits because motor coordination is one of the fundamental prerequisites in sports performance. Beginners can devote themselves to training basic coordination through slow motor circuits, while athletes can train specific coordination through more complex exercises, inherent to the sport of reference, performed quickly, with explosiveness, in order to improve reaction and adaptation capacities to the exercise itself.
The Giant Medicine Balls are a valuable ally in CORE TRAINING as we said, their use always involves a high commitment of the 'centre of the body' and always a functional, global type of training, even when the initial intention appears to be to perform an analytical exercise.
Let's take a concrete example. One of the best known and most popular exercises is the 'TORSION CRUNCH'. Performed while holding a large medicine ball in the hands, this exercise, technical and demanding in itself, becomes even more effective and training for the abdomen, i.e. for the complex formed by the rectus abdominis, internal oblique, external oblique and transverse, which is particularly stimulated by the partial rotation of the torso. It should be noted, however, that although the focus is on the abdomen, it is impossible to perform the exercise without involving other muscle groups in a 'support and frame' function. In fact, no less important, the muscles that support a correct execution of this movement are mainly, the rectus femoris, ileo psoas, paravertebralis, and the gran dorsalis. In order for the execution to be correct, the athlete must pay attention to certain expedients; starting from a seated position, heels raised off the ground, "hammer" feet, pelvis in anteversion, torso slightly inclined backwards, rotations performed in an orderly manner, with the Giant Med Ball following the movement of the torso.
These are therefore global exercises, which imply a good knowledge of the movement and therefore it is recommended to learn their execution with the help of a professional trainer.
