• What is the difference between Hex Rubber dumbbells and PU Round dumbbells?
  Hex Rubber dumbbells feature hexagonal rubber ends that prevent them from rolling on the floor and offer good resistance to the impacts typical of WODs and circuit training. The Round Pro PU dumbbells feature a denser polyurethane coating, with round heads and a cleaner finish: they feel smoother and more refined to the touch, are more stable on the rack and are more resistant to wear and tear in high-volume environments such as commercial weight rooms.
• What are the minimum and maximum load requirements for fitting out a commercial gym?
  For a standard weight room, the basic set covers 2–50 kg in 2-kg increments, with 4–5-kg increments above 30 kg. The 360 kg Sidea Hex and Round Pro kits (8904K26 and 8804K26) are specifically designed to follow this progression. In smaller personal training studios, you can start with a 76 kg or 110 kg kit, which can be supplemented later with individual pairs.
• Do the Nüobell 232 adjustable dumbbells really replace an entire rack?
  The Nüobell 232 covers weights from 2 to 32 kg per dumbbell in 2-kg increments, effectively replacing 15 traditional pairs. The weight can be changed in around 3 seconds by turning the handle on the rack. It is a solution designed for advanced home gyms, personal training studios and small functional training areas where space is the main constraint and one-to-one training takes place, not to replace fixed dumbbell pairs in high-traffic gyms.
• Do you need a dedicated rack, or can they be placed on the floor?
  In a professional setting, a rack is almost essential for organisation, safety and floor protection. The 8880 Dumbbell Rack accommodates Hex and Round Pro pairs on two levels, whilst the 8900 rack is designed exclusively for Nüobell 2-32 dumbbells. They may only be left on the floor for short periods during a WOD, and always on suitable technical flooring, to prevent any potential safety incidents.
• What is the diameter of the handles on the Sidea dumbbells?
  The Hex Rubber and Round Pro PU dumbbells feature knurled steel handles with diameters ranging from 28 to 40 mm depending on the weight: the lighter pairs remain at 28 mm, whilst those over 30 kg increase progressively. The Nüobell 232 dumbbells have a fixed 34 mm grip regardless of the weight selected, in line with the Olympic barbell standard.
• Are vinyl dumbbells still used in a modern gym?
  Yes, in group activity areas and during toning classes. The 2121-2132 vinyl dumbbells and the 1156/76 and 1156/110 sets cover the 0.5–10 kg range, which is used in aerobics, pump, Pilates and light rehabilitation. They are not designed for heavy lifting but remain the standard in group classes and high-repetition programmes with moderate loads.
• Is an adjustable handlebar a sensible choice compared to a fixed pair?
  The 8800/4-8800/6 model is useful in two situations: for home gyms with a limited budget and limited space, or as a supplement for intermediate weights not included in the set. It takes time to change the discs and cannot cope with the pace of a commercial gym, where fixed Hex or PU sets remain more efficient.
• How much does a complete dumbbell rack weigh, and do I need to reinforce the floor?
  A complete 360 kg kit plus an 8880 rack exceeds 400 kg, concentrated within a few square metres. There are no issues on standard concrete floors, whilst on floor slabs or raised floors, the load-bearing capacity must be checked with a technician. In any case, rubber flooring of at least 10 mm is recommended beneath the rack area to protect the floor and equipment from accidental falls.
• Do rubber-tipped objects damage the floor if they fall?
  The rubber on the Hex heads absorbs the impact but is not designed for repeated drops from shoulder height or overhead, which are typical of bumper plates. A controlled release will not damage either the floor or the handlebars; however, repeated drops from a height can deform the heads and place excessive strain on the joint with the pin.
• How do you choose between Hex Rubber and Round Pro PU for a CrossFit box?
  For a CrossFit box, Hex Rubber dumbbells remain the standard: they’re affordable, have stable hexagonal heads for dumbbell burpees and devil presses, and offer good resistance to the impacts of WODs. The Round Pro PU kettlebells are better suited to premium personal training studios and bodybuilding weight rooms, where the clean look of the rack and the greater durability of the polyurethane coating justify the higher investment.
