From posing as model at functional training the distance may seem considerable: this type of training is apparently something alien to those who, for work, generally have to have a slim, slender figure and who in many cases try to achieve this with a combination of cardio and diet. A prejudicethis, which is based on a more general tendency to think that this type of training only leads to an increase in muscle mass and therefore aesthetically may even be harmful to the female body. To deny this completely, however, is the Croatian model Sara Vulinovic-Zlatanwho for several months now has adopted the functional as his main training method to keep fit and who has also collaborated with Sidea e OUTRACE for the realisation of the Catalogue 2018.
Sara, how did you discover the functional training?
"I have been modelling for 10 years and have always had a passion for fitness, but I had the opportunity to attend the first course WTA only in March 2018 and convinced me right away, being the type of workout I had been looking for for years. Generally, the training methods and programmes I was given in gyms with machines did not help me in many ways".
How is your training composed?
"I always do a warm-up and a cool-down with exercises Primitive. During the main training instead I like to alternate functional exercises, for example with kettlebell e Flyingwith additional elements of Primitive".
What benefits have you experienced with the functional?
"From the very beginning, I have had major improvements in both aesthetics and the posturewhich is certainly fundamental in my work but had always been my weak point. Specifically, through functional training I was able to immediately achieve goals of strength, control and postural balance, as well as aesthetics".
Women, in particular, are often afraid that functional training will lead them to gain too much muscle mass. What advice can you give on this?
"Personally, I was the first to be afraid of gaining muscle mass in an 'unfeminine' way, and this is what actually happened to me when I was still using the wrong methodology: in classic gym training, the various machines force us to perform exercises that isolate individual muscles. The course of Woman Functional Training of the WTA Instead, it gave me the ability to move freely in space, using all my muscle chains. As far as I am concerned, it is finally the type of training through which as a woman you can achieve aesthetic goals, keeping your body fit and, above all, healthy. For these reasons I would recommend it to anyone".
