Sport in Korea is supported by two major pillars: activities that promote personal well-being and elite sport. Jincheon National Training Centre is one of the largest and newest sports complexes in the world for high-level training. Its size reflects the level of attention there is in South Korea towards personal advancement through international sports.
Work on the Gwanghyewon-Myeon began in 2011 and finished this year, in Jincheon-Gun County, 90km southwest of Seoul where the Jincheon National Training Centre is located. More than 1150 athletes specialising in 37 different Olympic disciplines, including athletics, shooting sports, swimming, volleyball and rowing, train in an 85,000-square-metre space equipped with the best technical solutions for each sport. This temple of sport leaves you breathless and everything inside has been designed according to the athletes' best performances: you will not find amateur athletes here, but only internationally renowned Olympic athletes. With this in mind, the sponsors commissioned Sidea with the longest functional training facility in the world, which was installed in the large multifunctional centre.
In this installation, designed exclusively for Jincheon NTC, the 64 metres of self-supporting Gym Ladders are topped by numbered beams with the unmistakable OUTRACE design and are spaced and fixed every 13 metres by integrated structures with 3 arches and 6 suspended stations. At one end of the structure, the view opens onto a succession of tall gym ladders made of metal and the impact of the 64 white suspended stations is lost when looking towards the other end of the OUTRACE installation.
When we asked Dr. Choi Sangkyu, director of Medicube Co.Ltd. and distributor of Sidea-OUTRACE products in South Korea, what were the reasons that led the managers of the Jincheon National Training Centre to choose OUTRACE, he replied very precisely:
- elegant integration of design and functionality
- skills and a quick budgeting and planning phase
- compatibility of the facilities with the most modern forms of training.
In addition to the professional gratification derived from choosing the suppliers of such an important company, the real satisfaction came when Medicube, a few months after the first installation, confirmed the expansion with new Coimponents and the integration of another 10 metres of OUTRACE structure.
