It is a plastic roller covered with grid-formed Eva. The gridded surface, of medium hardness, is stimulating in massage. The Massage Roller is particularly effective in 'self-massage' and stretching exercises, which are useful for muscle relaxation.
The pressure of the body's weight on the roller causes compression of so-called trigger points, irritable and painful muscle knots, from which muscular hypertension can arise. According to theories of mechanical treatment through massage, the compression of these knots can 'defuse' one of the main sources of pain and causes of muscle hypertension.
The equipment finds application in activities aimed at improving muscle function, joint mobility and thus in activities aimed at improving functional efficiency and well-being, of the body. The Massage Roller is also widely and increasingly used in athletic training.
