Composed of sizes 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 kg, colour black, this line of Bumper Plates is made from polyurethane-coated metal discs. Polyurethane is the best material for producing discs; its main defect is its high cost compared to rubber, especially recycled rubber. Extremely high resistance, extraordinary compactness, low rebound, no odour, sharp colours, no imperfections and marks due to the mould, perfect coupling with the steel plate, PU discs represent the best possible solution in terms of reliability, aesthetics and overall quality.

PU BUMPER PLATE - Polyurethane Bumper Plates, colour black

Comprising sizes 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 kg, colour black, this line of Bumper Plates is made from polyurethane-coated metal discs.

Polyurethane is the best material for producing discs; its main drawback is its high cost compared to rubber, especially recycled rubber. Extremely high resistance, extraordinary compactness, low rebound, no odour, clear colouring, absence of imperfections and mould marks, perfect coupling with the steel plate, PU discs represent the best possible solution in terms of reliability, aesthetics and overall quality.

The wear and light degradation of polyurethane is significantly lower than that of rubber.

In addition, due to the high density of the material, PU discs have a very low thickness, which makes it possible to load a barbell over 350 kg, almost as if it were a metal disc, but with the advantage of having a softer bearing. However, the lower elastic deformation compared to rubber can also be considered a limitation for those who prefer softer, bouncier bumpers.

As you can see in the image below, in the same loading space (we examined the 9015/9 Olympic barbell), using the classic rubber bumpers with a very wide shoulder (approx. 93.5 mm) it is possible to load 4 of 25 kg, reaching a total weight including the barbell of 220 kg, while using the PU bumpers with a narrower shoulder (approx. 51 mm) it is possible to load 7 of 25 kg, reaching a total weight of 370 kg!

Example Bumper Space

From this perspective, typical of powerlifting, PU bumpers can be considered better than even the thinnest metal discs.
The POLYURETHANE cover in fact consumes less weight on the stacking platform and makes the disc much more versatile and suitable for other uses in the weight room.

Polyurethane Bumper Plates are also available in coloured versions according to IWF standards, code 9040/3-9046/3.

Bumper Plate Guide

I bumper discs (bumper=bumper) are discs designed to limit the consequences of the loaded barbell hitting, or falling to the ground. Some weightlifting specialities in fact involve lifts in which the fall of the loaded barbell is an integral part of the exercise. For this reason, the bumper discs are completely made of rubber with metal inserts (plates or rings) to protect the central area where the balance insertion hole is located. From a constructional point of view, the main nominal dimensions: outer disc diameter 450 mm, bore 50 mm, are defined by the standard specified by the IWF (International Weightlifting Federation).The spread of weightlifting in the athletic preparation and in the functional fitness led to the production of different lines and models:

Composed of sizes 5, 10, 15, 20 kg, exclusively in black. This line is made entirely of rubber (with a central steel ring) and was created with the aim of obtaining the best quality/price ratio. Being more elastic than polyurethane, rubber guarantees a good level of shock absorption, but at the same time it is a material that is more subject to wear in the long term, particularly in the case of intensive use.

9040/7-9044/7 Crumb Rubber Bumper Plate

Made from recycled rubber granules from shoes, these discs are distinguished by their characteristic stone effect design and a rubber approximately 10% softer than standard bumpers. This composition gives them more elasticity, a slightly higher rebound and a slightly reduced noise impact on the ground.
